Biography
When her son developed eczema at 4 months old, Jae designed a set of scratch mitts that would actually stay on and prevent the worst of the damage he was able to do. These scratch mitts worked so well that Jae and husband set up a business, ScratchSleeves, to manufacture and sell them. She started blogging about living with eczema on the company website in an effort to share the knowledge she had built up managing her son’s (and later her daughter’s) eczema and to answer customer queries. Ask a search engine any question about infantile or childhood eczema and it’s likely that one of Jae’s articles will be in the results.
Coming from a family of eczema sufferers, Jae draws on years of practical, first hand experience of living with eczema. Her scientific background (she spent 7 years at Oxford and Southampton Universities and has a PhD) impels her to root out the research (or lack of it) behind the myths and hype surrounding the management of eczema.

Jaes’ first book, THE CALM SKIN GUIDE, is co-authored with Amber Hatch and was published by Souvenir Press in April 2024.
