Sophie Underwood is a writer and teacher, based in the North East of England. She has lived off-grid for over a decade, and writes about life in a remote woodland cabin, foraging, fungi, and folklore on her Substack, All The Wild Magic.

A deep connection to the natural world runs through all of Sophie’s writing, from her fantasy fiction to her narrative non-fiction. She has been shortlisted for a Northern Writer’s Award, was selected for New Writing North’s A Writing Chance programme for working-class writers 2024-2025, and received a scholarship to attend the Faber Academy. A piece of her short fiction will be published by Little Toller and Bluemoose Books in the anthology, Give Peat a Chance, later in 2025, and her non-fiction will appear in The Bee magazine.
